Coors Light Silver Summer Throwdown

By Press Release — July 26, 2006

SK8 TEAM WHEELING INTO THROWDOWN

Fun. Party. Utter mayhem.

Three phrases members of the SK8 Skate Team use to describe the excitement of Coors Light Silver Summer Throwdown and three reasons SK8 Skates is returning for its fourth consecutive Throwdown experience.

Winnipeg’s premier skateboarding and extreme lifestyle shop is bringing its premier skateboarding squad to Portage la Prairie’s Island Park from Aug. wake-20 to entertain, experience and enthrall Throwdown-goers.

A full 12-man team will be on display at the three-day wakeboarding party, skating its portable park and taking in the entire festival atmosphere.

“It’s cliché to say, but Throwdown is the fun highlight of the summer,” says veteran SK8 member James Vandal. “We like to come out and we like to be part of the party. We enjoy the festivities to the fullest. It’s an all-around good time and it gives everyone a chance to be part of the scene.”

Riders will perform on both Saturday and Sunday and will also interact with the young skaters and skate fans to teach, talk and just take part in what built them to Throwdown-worthy tricksters.

“That’s our ultimate goal, to help kids out. We’re trying to give back to the community, to the kids and to the scene,” Vandal says. “Everything that we’ve gotten out of it has to be given back somehow.”

For more information on either Throwdown or the SK8 team, contact Throwdown event coordinator Dan Martin at 204-871-0295 or SK8 team manager Colin Lambert at 204-475-4802.

Throwdown is a presentation of Coors Light, Portage Watersports Club, Pitster Pro, Obrien Wakeboards, Portage Credit Uniton, Sociables Night Club, Avenue Honda, Capitol Motosports, and Winnipeg Watersports, suppliers of this year’s official towboats – Tige and Malibu.
