CHAD KAGY BREAKS TWO WORLD RECORDS IN ONE RUN (precise height and distance to be photo verified) WORLDS LONGEST BACKFLIP ON A BMX BIKE ( approximately 70 feet) to WORLD HEIGHT OUT OF A RAMP (no assisted tow-in) RECORD ON A BMX BIKE (in excess of 20 feet)

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO, MAY 1, 2006 - In what can only be described as the ultimate jam session, the MegaRamp tm. team of skateboarders (Jake Brown, Bob Burnquist, Jason Ellis, Pierre Luc Gagnon, Bucky Lasek, Rob Loriface, Andy MacDonald, and Danny Way) capped off a historic five days of skateboarding on the MegaRamp tm. with a two hour session that saw every skateboarder present taking the sport of skateboarding to new heights. Not since Danny Way unveiled the MegaRamp tm. to the world in the DC video three years back has people's minds been opened and then blown away as to what is possible on a skateboard.

The skateboarding that has taken place over the last few days has been nothing less than epic. Where do you start?
- Jake Brown pulled a backside 360 ollie over the 50 foot gap (after time).

- Danny Way became the first skateboarder to backflip the MegaRamp tm.. He then proceeded to add backflip rocket airs over the 60 feet gap to his already impressive bag of tricks.

- Bob Burnquist became the first skateboarder to frontflip the MegaRamp tm. over the 50 foot gap. Bob also nailed a massive switch backside one eighty into a 20 feet high front side hand flip.

- 17 year old Rob Loriface landed the first ever frontside 360 kickflip indie.

- Bucky Lasek pulled a frontside 360 into a massive method to fakie.

- Among his usual strong repertoire of technical wizardry, PLG landed an indie 360 over the 60 foot gap into one of the largest backside airs of the week on the quarterpipe.

- Andy Mac pulled multiple judo airs, and a varial 360 over the 50 foot gap to varial handflip on the quarter.

- Elllis pulled a rocket air 360 over the 50 foot gap.

- Bob and Danny finished both Saturday and Sunday with double flips and also double backside 360's into huge backside airs.

Result order from the contest was as follows: Danny, Bob, PLG, Andy, Jake, Bucky, Ellis and Rob.

Chad Kagy was also present at the event to give a BMX demo and impressed everyone beyond belief with his skills over both the 50 and 60 foot gaps. In all of his runs he landed everything cleanly, which is amazing considering that prior to dropping in on Saturday for the first time in front of the crowd the closest size ramp to this one that he had ever ridden was the Boom Boom Huck Jam ramp which is approximately half the size of MegaRamp tm..

Highlights from Chad's impressive performance were the longest Supermans ever across the 60 foot gap, backflips to huge airs over the quarterpipe to the truly awe inspiring backflip tailwhip over the 50 foot gap. Chad also appears to have broken two world records in one run when he backflipped approximately 70 feet and then high aired approximately 21 feet out of the Quarterpipe. The precise distance and height will be verified after studying the photographs in more detail.

Chad's runs were alongside the skateboarders during the skate session. With everyone pushing the boundaries of their respective sports in the same session the mutual respect and sheer entertainment value for athletes and crowd alike was huge.

Judging the event on behalf of MegaRamp tm. Events were action sports legends Andy Hetzel, Salman Agah and Brian Brannon as well as Chris Kelley, Dave Metty and Tanner Irion.
MegaRamp tm. was in Mexico City as a part of the outdoor alternative sports festival Xtreme Universe, which was located in an environmental park called Xochitla just outside the city.
The MegaRamp tm. is the world's largest skateboarding structure. It towers ten stories high, is three hundred feet long (the length of a football field) and has two drop in points. The lower drop in sends the athletes down a 50 feet high ramp and launches them at over 30 mph over a 50 foot gap where they then hit the world's largest quarterpipe (27 feet high and 48 feet wide). If the athletes drop in the 65 foot roll in they hit 45mph and fly across a 70 foot wide gap. The larger gap in Mexico city is 60 feet due to the air in Mexico City, located at 7000 feet, being thinner than at sea level and the athletes travelling approximately 20% faster than normal.

The ramp was constructed by JT and VP Industries, the team behind many of the X Games structures, Danny Way's ramp in the desert, the Great Wall of China and Hard Rock record breaking structures and the structure for Mike Metzger's upcoming backflip jump over Ceasars Palace fountains (May 4th). The ramp was constructed in record time with the assistance of local construction firms from Mexico City. As a sign of appreciation for the ramp crew the riders gave up $500 each of their prize money to the guys.

The size, cost and space required to put up the MegaRamp tm. makes this event not only rare but also exciting for the public and all the riders who competed for the first MegaRamp title of the year. The next appearance of the MegaRamp tm. will be at the Home Depot Center in Carson CA at X Games XII in early August 2006.

BMX RECORD INFO: In other BMXer Matt Hoffman was towed into a quarterpipe by a motorcycle and achieved height out of a ramp of 26.5 feet. In achieving his height record Chad did not have the benefit of motorized assistance.

At X Games XI (2005) in a solo rider demo Mike "Rooftop" Escamilla backflipped 62 feet 2 inches and established the last BMX backflip record.
